چکیده

Structure-preserving signatures are signatures defined over bilinear groups that rely on generic group operations. In particular, the messages and signatures consist of group elements and the verification of signatures consists of evaluating pairing product equations. Due to their purist nature structure-preserving signatures blend well with other pairingbased protocols. We show that structure-preserving signatures must consist of at least 3 group elements when the signer uses generic group operations. Usually, the generic group model is used to rule out classes of attacks by an adversary trying to break a cryptographic assumption. In contrast, here we use the generic group model to prove a lower bound on the complexity of digital signature schemes. We also give constructions of structure-preserving signatures that consist of 3 group elements only. This improves significantly on previous structure-preserving signatures that used 7 group elements and matches our lower bound. Our structure-preserving signatures have additional nice properties such as strong existential unforgeability and can sign multiple group elements at once.

Unified, Minimal and Selectively Randomizable Structure-Preserving Signatures

We construct a structure-preserving signature scheme that is selectively randomizable and works in all types of bilinear groups. We give matching lower bounds showing that our structure-preserving signature scheme is optimal with respect to both signature size and public verification key size. State of the art structure-preserving signatures in the asymmetric setting consist of 3 group elements...

Separating Short Structure-Preserving Signatures from Non-interactive Assumptions

Structure-preserving signatures are signatures whose public keys, messages, and signatures are all group elements in bilinear groups, and the verification is done by evaluating pairing product equations. It is known that any structure-preserving signature in the asymmetric bilinear group setting must include at least 3 group elements per signature and a matching construction exists. In this pap...

Structure-Preserving Chosen-Ciphertext Security with Shorter Verifiable Ciphertexts

Structure-preserving cryptography is a world where messages, signatures, ciphertexts and public keys are entirely made of elements of a group over which a bilinear map is efficiently computable. While structure-preserving signatures have received much attention the last 6 years, structure-preserving encryption schemes have undergone slower development. In particular, the best known structure-pr...

More Efficient Structure-Preserving Signatures - Or: Bypassing the Type-III Lower Bounds

Structure-preserving signatures are an important cryptographic primitive that is useful for the design of modular cryptographic protocols. It has been proven that structure-preserving signatures (in the most efficient Type-III bilinear group setting) have a lower bound of 3 group elements in the signature (which must include elements from both source groups) and require at least 2 pairing-produ...

Structure-Preserving Signatures from Type II Pairings

We investigate structure-preserving signatures in asymmetric bilinear groups with an efficiently computable homomorphism from one source group to the other, i.e., the Type II setting. It has been shown that in the Type I and Type III settings, structure-preserving signatures need at least 2 verification equations and 3 group elements. It is therefore natural to conjecture that this would also b...
